回覆刪除非常非常高興看到這張照片. 除了蒲飛路外, 它也是给我留下不少快樂回忆的地方. 戲院旁, 有間京菜酒楼 - 豪华楼. 那是我家有任何喜庆擺酒的地方. 婚酒, 满月, 祖父母生日等等; 就連我父母结婚也在此. 那時候, 大人打牌, 我地成班堂表兄弟姐妹就去豪华戲院看电影. 很熱闹和快樂.
我小學讀救世軍嫁, 活道果間. 原來以前響電車路嫁! 英京酒樓嘛, 我很小的時候它仍在. 大三元酒樓聽父母提過, 應該是幾貴的酒樓, 是有很大件事才會去大三元飲茶. 超愛林良蕙, 喜歡她的真, 雖然有人說她癲和傻. 以前的女仔去選美, 好多真的為了增加人生的閱歷, 人也好像比較純品. 不似現在, 以選美為入行的跳板.

回覆刪除今天增添了不少照片，謝謝博主！看見那張三十年代的照片，才知聖馬利亞堂後面曾有一座歐洲式的堡壘。
回覆刪除那幅利舞台在即張拆卸時所拍的照片中，翠園和敘福樓俱在。其後，先是翠園易名美心，後是敘福樓結業；然後，美心復名翠園；但到現在，翠園經已結業；可歎世事滄桑！

回覆刪除I like these sets of photos. Of course ! As I said many times before, having spent all of my childhood and youth in Wanchai. That photo of " 灣仔莊士敦道道與譚臣道交界處 ..." brings many happy memories cos that wonderful wantun noodles shop 永華 was situated just at the entrance of this part of 譚臣道. My pleasure in eating a bowl of noodles in those days (when it was even a luxury for a poor family's son) is just indescribable. Thanks again blog master for taking back to those years of the early 60s ...

In fact, it showed (one of the buildings on the left
hand side of this photo) where I lived from
1954-1960
It is 147 Johnston Road. Happy days there cos I often went up to the roof (some huts were even put up there to accommodate some even poorer peasants who couldn't afford to rent a room) to
play all sorts of games with children in the neighborhood.
I remember sometime around 1959, a young married couple (they were quite well off as far as fananicial situation is concerned) often brought up to the roof a "pickup" (i.e. a portable vinyl record player) and laid there together to enjoy their music. They played "More than I can say" (Bobby Vee) (the song which often sang the famous
singalong verse "Wo wo yeah ye yeah ye" ..)
a lot and that's what started my interest in pop music.
Now at the far end of this photo, there;s the
"Salvation Army primary school" that Chan Po Chu attended as a child
救世軍嘛, 真是一間好學校. 尤其是八十年代以前的老師們, 個個年屆退休, 但對小朋友超有愛心. 當年沒有家校合作, 但學校和家長都緊密聯繫. 我升中之後已經不能愉快學習, 學校太重成績之故也.
