I really miss the old TST Star Ferry! When I was a kid in HK, I study at HK LingNam and everyday I have to take the Ferry to school...Love those memories!!
回覆刪除v impressive ... miss the station .... part of my young memories were left in the TST Station and the trips starting at TST to Shatin and Taipo .....
One thing I really like about the old train is that we have to climb up the steps (they look tall, like ladder especially for we children in the 60s) to get on board the train. Similarly when I got down the train, I remember I had to be extra careful lest that I might misplace my foot and fell into the rail. Yet that is fun (compared with the plain way of getting on board the KCR train of today). I also like the smell of the chicken legs sold by the hawkers in the train. The less than a minute duration of total darkness when the train passed through the tunnel is also good experience How I dream I could steal a kiss from a girl in the total darkness.
Thanks for sharing.I still remember the mouth-watering snacks, eg icecream,drumstick.....Those were the days .)
I really missed the old days...........
When I was a little girl.....travelling to NT was quite (in fact, exactly) a big event.......
I lived in 調景嶺, no record could tell how much time spent on the trip to TST at the very first beginning)......what's in the old memory : I had to get up just right after I fall asleep. Along with my family, I climbed across the hills to Yau Tong with the lights from the heaven ( must be a starry night).....
When I got TST Railway Station, my soul would have been brigthened up coz ppl there were all in rush & excited. This place was crowded with all kinds of people for their own reasons. According to my view, they were all honest, happy & mind-bearing human. For my own, I was going to have a wonderful tour with my family somewhere in NT.
I still remember the smell of the fuel, the scary darkness thru the tunnels, the sweaty bodies nearby, the sunshine came thru the smoke, the running scenery that we caught by leaning our head out of the windows, the tasteful snacks we could reached when we were normally hunger for food to recharge our exhausted body..
I loved the old station. It was once a symbol of Hong Kong! It tells the story of Hong Kong for about a century!
Nowadays, TST peir is just another cold place to walkby...nothing for me to catch, no love to recall, no sweetness in the air to smell, no old faces to remember......
Everything faded away beyond the shrunk harbour, troubled waters, dusty air, people with a thoughtless mind............
where is my lovely birth place "Hong Kong"?
